Which layer sinks?
Pour sand, water and oil into a stone bowl. Sand sinks, water settles below oil, and the lighter oil stays on top.
What changes with heat?
Place ice beside magma to melt it. Wood, oil and plants catch fire; water puts flames out. Steam eventually turns back into water.
